PLAYED for annually, in a friendly but competitive meeting, the Canon Cup will return this year to Jedburgh Badminton Club.
After an evening of entertaining matches, Jedburgh ran out 6-2 victors over Wilton Badminton Club, Hawick.
The cup has been played for almost 20 years and new sponsors Dawn and Charlie Bird, landlords of the Canon in Jedburgh, were pleased to welcome the teams for refreshments.
The cup will be handed over at theannual presentation dance on March 30 in Jedburgh.
The club recently held their veterans’ tournament for those over 47.
The mixed pairs tournament takes a round robin format with the winners from Group A playing the runners up from Group B, and vice versa in the semi-finals.
The final was the best of three ends with Stu McCredie and Violet Livingstone the victors over Angus Towers and Myra Younger 21-18, 21 -20.
