A WOMAN accused of murdering a man at a farm in the Borders was remanded to jail when she appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday.

Eliska Novotna, 22, denies assaulting and repeatedly stabbing Arunas Ramanauskas to death on October 7 or 8 last year at the Old Farm House, Easter Happrew, near Stobo.

The body of the 39-year- old Lithuanian was found in a farm steading on a Saturday morning.

During a brief hearing, her defence solicitor advocate, Jim Keegan QC, told Lord Bannatyne that she would be pleading not guilty.

Mr Keegan said the defence team was not yet ready for a trial and that further investigations were being carried out.

Lord Bannatyne continued the case until March 2 and remanded the accused in custody.
