HAVING relinquished the Challenge Trophy at the previous event, Donald Livingston (Edinburgh) seemed determined to put things right at the meeting at Braidwood.
On top form, he made the best of a testing first layout, finishing on 35 ex-40, some three points clear of Jim Brodie (Denholm) whom you may recall won the ‘Challenge’.
Brodie tied runner-up slot with no less than five other guns, with another quintet a single clay adrift on 31.
Brodie Junior, Struan, matched Gordon Boertien’s 36 ex-40 to share the lead on layout two, while ever-consistent Livingston shot another 35, tying the second-highest score with Kyle Smith (Dunbar). Brodie Senior was right up there again, sharing the third slot with another three clubmates on 34.
Livingston alone made the 70-mark, ensuring overall victory. Gordon Boertien (Lockerbie) carded 67, the next highest score, with Smith and both Brodies (father and son) tabling an aggregate score of 66.
The next shoot is on Sunday. Lindsay Gordon is the defending gun with the Mowitt Trophy at stake. Entries close at noon. All welcome.
