A COMMERCIAL rambling company has launched a scheme to boost its profits – and encourage more people to walk.
Ramblers Worldwide Holidays is starting the Walking Partnership, which gives hiking groups money when members book the firm’s hiking holidays.
Managing director Tony Lock said: “We decided to introduce this scheme to boost interest in walking and support groups at a local level who really know how this funding can be used to make a difference.
“Having been established now for 65 years, we have contributed many millions of pounds to assist walking charities and conservation projects in Britain and our aim is to further enhance our commitment to the walking community.”
From next year, groups will be able to ‘register’ with Ramblers Worldwide Holidays as partners and then receive a financial contribution for every member booking a walking holiday.
The clubs will receive £10 per person booked on UK holidays, £20 per person booked on short haul holidays and £30 per person booked on long haul holidays.
Mr Lock added: “We passionately believe in promoting walking for people of all ages and abilities, representing a direct relationship between our company and local walking groups.”
