ONCE upon a time, Selkirk and Hawick Royal Albert were involved in top-of-the-table clashes, writes John Slorance.

But now it’s completely different – this Saturday the old rivals are set to lock horns in a basement battle.

Selkirk have team concerns as Euan Pritchard, Bobby Gay, Barry Milven, Daryl Johnson and Lee Stephen are all missing.

Gay and Milven were both sent off against Eyemouth United last weekend, decisions described by team boss Mike McKinnon as “the worst refereeing display I have ever seen.”

He added: “It was always going to be a difficult game against Hawick and with five guys missing it is going to be a lot harder.”

Albert full back Ryan Shepherd commented: “It might be a game between two sides that have not been doing great, but there is a lot to play for as both are desperate for a win.”

Hawick’s Jay Paterek is out through suspension.

Kelso take on Eyemouth at Woodside Park and parade new signing Dean Bowie, while Callum Webb is injured.

Peebles travel to face promotion-seeking Leith Athletic without the suspended Andrew Williamson, but include new face Andy Noble, while Vale host Stirling University at Victoria Park.
