Craigroyston 4
Hawick RA 1
Although showing improved form, Royal Albert fell to another defeat in their EOS First Division campaign.
But they gave Craigroyston a real run for their money.
Craigie scored the only goal of an evenly-fought first half.
Following the interval, Albert drew level. Scott Watson drove in a shot that the Craigroyston keeper failed to hold. The ball spun loose and was tucked into the net by Watson.
After Watson had squandered a chance to put Hawick in front, the home side regained the lead.
The Albert were still very much in the game, though, only to be sent reeling by two late strikes.
Albert coach Davie Aitkin said: “We played the best we have played for quite a while. I couldn’t fault the players at all and we were right in the game until the last quarter of an hour or so. We surprised Craigroyston with the quality of our play as they got frustrated with each other.”
