Edinburgh Rugby have accepted an invitational entry to the 2013 Gala 7s, the opening round of the famous 10-leg Kings of the Sevens Series on Saturday, April 6.
The club will take its place at the 122nd Netherdale tournament in a new format of 12 teams drawn across four pools (kick-off 3.30pm).
The club’s placement in the pools will be confirmed at the tournament draw on Sunday, with the Edinburgh Rugby 7s squad announced the following week.
Edinburgh Rugby elite development coach Bryan Easson said: “We’re honoured to accept this invitation, to take our place in such an historic tournament and go head-to-head with some of the country’s top sevens sides.
“The Borders is well represented at Edinburgh Rugby and a number of our players earned their stripes playing in this series before arriving with us and, in some cases, playing international sevens.
“Needless to say, there are a lot of boys itching to get a chance to run out at Gala again, so we’re delighted to be involved”.
Easson added: “Hopefully, a number of our fans will turn out to show their support at a great all-day event.”
As is customary on the Kings circuit, refreshments and entertainment will be available throughout the day, creating an all-day festival for fans on and off the pitch, leading up to the floodlit final at 7.45pm.
The evening will then continue in the club’s Centenary Lounge, with free admission after the final.
