Borders Select 3

east lothian select 2

Little wonder competition is so tight at the top of the East of Scotland First Division.

For all the Borders’ goals in this EOS trials game at Netherdale last week were scored by players representing the top three clubs – Coldstream (John Crawford), Berwick Rangers Reserves (Kenny O’Brien) and Eyemouth United (Steve Shennan).

More than 100 people turned out on a bitterly cold night at Netherdale to witness an excellent game.

Shennan opened the scoring after five minutes with Jamie Butler of Tynecastle equalising after 15.

O’Brien put the Borders back in front just two minutes later.

Substitute Michael Webster of Heriot-Watt levelled things in the second half after 70 minutes, but Crawford popped up to grab the winner with just over 10 minutes remaining.

The squads for the match were selected by former Berwick Rangers’ manager Michael Renwick, now manager of Heriot-Watt.
