Gala Cycling Clubs members are all geared up and raring to go racing with the winters training coming to a close.
The first race is on Wednesday March 27 in the form of the seasons opener Five Mile TT around Abbotsford. The first rider is off at 6pm and all riders are asked to sign on sharp. It is recommended that all riders should show and wear a rear light in the dusk conditions.
On Sunday March 31 the ever popular Gordon Arms Mountain TT takes place. Entries are open so please contact Bill Hamilton. Riders are coming from all over the UK to put themselves to the testing 20.5mile mountain stage. There will be hot drinks and food available from the Gordon Arms Hotel who are kindly sponsoring the prize winners medals. The club are also proposing to have Sunday Lunch after the race those who wish to please contact Lucy or David from Gala CC.
This year will see the new Border Trophy series expand to include races at Kelso and Berwick and Gala. Featuring more passes than Mastermind the Audax 200km features a 300km run to Aliston and Back, a 10 mile 2up TT and not forgetting The Braw Lads Ba` Breaker cycle sportive on Sunday June 23 which has been voted one of the top three sportive rides in the UK. This Saturday, March 23, Steve Diamonds Cycle Centre in Galashiels hosts a Merida Showcase event coming to the town. With Merida bringing there top spec Road and Mountain Bike ranges for all to see, including the 1:60 full suspension Mountain Bike and hopefully the Merida Team Scultura Race Bike. There will also be the chance to try out some off the range available on the day. The event runs from 9.30am to 5pm in Overhaugh Street.
