BORDERS bowling ace Julie Forrest was beaten in the Final of the Ladies Singles at the British Championships at Stanley, near Durham, last week.
Forrest, of Teviotdale Bowling Club, beat the Welsh Champion, Kerry Packwood, 20-10 in the semi-final and played Rebecca Field the English Champion and World Champion from Potters in January.
She was winning 15-7 when she lost the jack and didn’t score again when Field shortened the jack to the minimum distance. The green was flying, running between 20 and 23 seconds, and the game took two and a half hours.
Both players received a standing ovation when they finished after some wonderful bowling.
