Carnethy honour for Coltman

A QUARTET of Teviotdale Harriers travelled to Silverburn near Penicuik on Saturday for the 43rd annual Carnethy Five Hill Race over six miles and involving a climb of 2,500ft.

This extremely popular event involves a ballot for the 620 available places and it was a special moment for Harrier Alan Coltman who was celebrating his completion of 21 races, earning himself an engraved silver quaich which was presented by 25-time race organiser and founder Burns Scott and Carnethy race legend Jimmy Jardine, who has competed in all 43 events.

Teviotdale positions and times were: Craig Grieve (105th, 64 mins); Keith Murray (146th, 66 mins); Rob Cranston (321st, 78 mins; Alan Coltman (472nd, 96 mins).

The next Harriers event is this Saturday with the Scottish National Cross-country Championships being held at Callender Park, Falkirk.
