THE Mowitt Trophy was up for grabs at Braidwood Sporting Clays this week and was presented by Mrs Mowitt.
Donald Livingston (Edinburgh) was the worthy recipient with a score of 38 ex 40. Right behind, only one target away from forcing a shoot-off, was Stuart Donaldson (Musselburgh) on 36 ex 40. Again one target less was a three-way tie between Keith Learmonth (Herriot), Rab Neil (North Berwick) and Alex Brown (Newtongrange).
In the second round, Brown won high gun with a score of 34 ex 40. There was a two-way tie for second with Jim Brodie (Denholm) and Livingston on 33 ex 40. Third place went to Ian Brown (Oxnam) on 32.
First-round winner Livingston went on to break enough in the second half to finish on the day’s highest aggregate score of 71 ex 80. Brown (Newtongrange) was only one away and the only other gun to break 70 or more. Next closest were Learmonth and Donaldson 66.
The next shoot at Braidwood is on Sunday, February 24, when the trophy to be shot for is the Lingerwood currently held by Gordon Boertein (Lockerbie). Entries close at noon – all welcome.
