PEEBLES Netball was celebrating last week after two of their senior shooters got called up for national duty.
First up was 16-year-old goal attack Jenny Hudson, selected for the Scotland under-17 long squad last summer, who survived the final cut into the 12-strong outfit for the European championships in Malta in March.
Then came the news that 17-year-old Jo Pettitt, who has already received Scotland caps at under-17 age group, had been selected to represent Scotland Under-21 as goal shooter for the forthcoming Northern Hemisphere netball championships to be held in Cardiff at the end of the month.
Peebles coach Linda Nicholson is delighted with the players’ selections and told TheSouthern: “Both of these players are very hard workers.
“Not only does their training involve all the usual fitness and skills, but as shooters, they also have to put in long hours of shooting practice each week.
“We are all very pleased that their hard work has paid off.”
