Peebles Rovers 1

KING CUP FIRST ROUND

WATT took the lead in the first minute when Jamie Forsyth fired in a pass from Aaron James, but Peebles were well in the game for the next half-hour.

Alan Chalmers and Jamie Adamson had good efforts before Adamson scored a peach of an equaliser with a left-foot shot on the turn from 20m that soared into the top corner.

Another Adamson drive tested Watt keeper Craig Saunders before Forsyth and Chris Donnelly scored late in the half to give the hosts a two-goal interval lead.

John Manson struck the post for Rovers early in the second period but Peebles tired and three Heriot-Watt goals within five minutes finished the game as a contest. Donnelly scored from the penalty spot after Forsyth had been brought down, then Aaron James curled in a free kick round the defensive wall and David Myatt made it 6-1 by applying a cool finish when a pass from substitute Michael Webster put him through on goal. Webster himself finished the scoring with five minutes left to play with a neat shot to the corner of the net.

Peebles Rovers: Gordon, Linton, McQuinnie, MacKenzie, Hunter (Whyte), Shortreed, Adamson (Edgar), J. Manson, G. Manson, Cairns, Chalmers.
