IN A match that was switched from Jedburgh to Wilton Lodge Park, Hawick drew first blood when Davis Hope nodded home a Jory Robertson corner.
Within 10 minutes, Jed equalised through Nathan Gillie, but were then kept at bay by a string of excellent saves from Hawick keeper Kerr Brown, while at the other end Davie Fraser and Dale Whillans came close for the homesters.
Jed took the lead in the second half with a Terry Marshall goal and followed this up with another counter from Aaron Swailes following a sweeping breakaway raid from a Hawick corner kick.
Towards the end, Gary Moffat put Hawick back in the picture in finding the net with a header.
Hawick battled hard for an equaliser from here on, but it was not to be.
