Selkirk Victoria 4
Coldstream Amateurs 3
BAL DIVISION B
SELKIRK moved into third place in the table with a 4-3 win for the second Saturday in a row.
The home side were ahead within two minutes. Alastair Orr fired a shot across goal and it was turned in at the back post by the advancing Ryan Clapperton.
However, Coldstream weren’t behind for long. A corner was swung in from the right and the ball headed into the roof of the net from six yards out.
Five minutes later, the Streamers were ahead after a pass was slipped between the Selkirk centre backs and clipped past Michael White in the Vics’ goal.
The Souters equalised after half an hour. The Coldstream keeper spilled a cross and the ball fell to the feet of Darren Munro who squeezed it into the far corner from the tightest of angles.
Coldstream responded 10 minutes before the interval when William Mercer was judged to have tripped the right winger in the box and the resulting penalty was converted.
But on the stroke of half-time Selkirk levelled when their opponents failed to clear a cross from Steven Sharkey and the ball fell to Clapperton who drilled a half-volley into the bottom corner.
With 10 minutes to go, Coldstream were reduced to 10 men after one of their players kicked out at Orr. The visitors played with only one forward for the remainder of the game and this allowed Selkirk to push centre half Ryan Pritchard up front as they went for the winner.
On 85 minutes, within a minute of Pritchard going forward, he got on the end of a Munro flick-on before turning the last defender and smashing the ball into the top corner for the winning goal.
