Spartans 3
Selkirk 1
EoS PREMIER DIVISION
TITLE challengers Spartans made a bright start against Selkirk when Omar Kader headed home a Dean Hoskins corner.
The second came 10 minutes later when Kader collected a Robbie Manson cross and tucked the ball home.
Kader came under attack from some aggressive challenges, firstly a yellow for a flying tackle against him and then Selkirk’s Lee Stephen saw red for a lunge.
Despite the numbers deficit, Selkirk managed to pull one back midway through the half when Daryl Burdett latched on to a Jamie Gibson cross and headed the ball home.
Only five minutes later, however, Danny O’Donnell drove home a 25-yard drive when a Dean Hoskins corner was half cleared. Keith McLeod then missed a glaring opportunity before keeper John Dodds kept the score at three with a great block from Keith McLeod.
The second half was a tame affair. McLeod, and then John Grant went close, but the hosts played at a much slower pace with the points in the bag.
