A CONTENDER for most improved player during the winter months must include new boy Hugh MacDonald – third equal in last weekend’s competition.
Other candidates in the running for this award are Ian Wilkie, who shared first place, and veteran Gerald Beggs, improving from 40 for his first nine holes to 30 for his second nine on Saturday for his share of top spot.
However, there was no sign of improvement from Tug Wilson who started the new year with a 10 at the first.
Results: 1 (equal), I. Wilkie and G. Beggs nett 30; 3 (equal), L. McAllister, L. Rutherford and H. MacDonald 31.
