HOPES of playing Saturday’s East of Scotland home clash against Kelso United on their Whitestone Park pitch have been dashed for Peebles Rovers as once again the weather has scuppered repair work on the ground.

Last night (Wednesday) both clubs agreed to switch the game to Woodside Park, Kelso, in order to get it played before the predicted cold snap.

Rovers chairman Colin MacDonald told TheSouthern: “The work to sort our drainage problems in the short term has more or less been completed but we needed a sustained dry spell to finish it off and that just hasn’t happened.

“We have only played one home game this season and it must be really frustrating for our coach Jason Girdwood and the team.

“The council have been doing their best to help us rectify the ongoing problems with drainage but at the end of the day it’s down to the weather so we will just have to be patient.”

Kelso United v Peebles Rovers kicks off at 2pm at Woodside Park.
