Biggar 12
Hawick 13
RBS NATIONAL LEAGUE
THIS match was by no means pretty as a rejuvenated Biggar team struggled to avenge the heavy defeat they suffered at Mansfield earlier in the season.
Hawick began well and on 15 minutes, following a Gary Johnstone break, Steven Anderson ran in for the first and only try of the game, Neil McColm converting.
Biggar responded well and following good driving play, successfully slotted a penalty.
As half-time approached, a Hawick break forced some scrambling defence from Biggar which led to a 25m penalty.
McColm used the strong cross-wind to drift the ball between the posts and Hawick were ahead 3-10 at the interval.
With the wind in their faces, the Greens played good 15-man rugby for the third quarter and extended their lead with a McColm penalty.
However, the last quarter belonged to Biggar.
A second successful penalty was followed by a third and fourth to bring the hosts to within a point with seven minutes to go. Needless to say, the Greens contingent were happy to hear the final whistle.
