HAWICK Royal Albert midfield player Paul Power has been banned from football for three years by the SFA.
The ban has been brought about due to the discovery that Power has been playing for the Albert Park club for almost a year, while already under a 12-month suspension incurred while playing for Arniston Amateurs in the Lothian and Edinburgh Amateur League.
It is understood that due to a bizarre lack of communication between the Lothian and Edinburgh Amateur League and Arniston Amateurs, who have now folded, Power did not receive the paperwork informing him he had been banned as it had been sent to a previous address.
It is confusing, to say the least, and Royal Albert point out that the SFA has taken no action against them.
The Power case is to be brought up at an East of Scotland League meeting as it may have a knock-on affect on current league standings.
Power played in a Hawick side that beat Duns and drew with Gala Fairydean.
