A YOUNG rugby star from St Mary’s School in Melrose has been selected to play in the Scottish Prep Schools team.
Scrum half Christopher Bell, 12, who has played for St Mary’s since he was seven, was first chosen to represent the Dandylions (South and East Prep Schools) against the WOSPS (North and West of Scotland Prep Schools) who played at Loretto School, Musselburgh, on November 7. This match was won by the Dandylions 32-11. Christopher’s selection came on the back of this fixture.
As well as playing rugby for St Mary’s, Christopher has come up through the Mini Maroons system in Galashiels. He now plays for Gala Red Triangle and is captain of the S1 team.
Unsurprisingly, Christopher would like to emulate his hero Chris Paterson.
