Grange VI 3

Reivers Fjordhus 2

EAST MEN’S DIVISION ONE

REIVERS men are still struggling to find a settled style of play that would see them progress up the table.

Too often this season they have conceded goals at critical times to drop points and last Saturday was no different.

Always experienced and organised at every level, the Edinburgh side started by pressing hard.

Fortunately, after winning a penalty corner, Fjordhus grabbed the lead, with a Scott Girvan drag flick into the roof of the net.

Grange then proceeded to counter and, catching the defence napping, soon equalised.

After a series of attacks, Reivers took the lead again from a deflected shot from Gareth Roberts. This should have settled the side, but further chances came and went without further gain.

The game progressed into the second half with both sides striving for fluency and keeper Steven Young making a number of great saves when the defence was undone.

However, after a lot of good work, possession was surrendered at a critical time and Grange swept the ball home after two quick passes.

Both sides were playing for the win and Reivers were unlucky not to go ahead for the third time.

But an avoidable foot in the D resulted in another penalty corner which Grange were happy to convert, leaving Reivers scrapping to get something out of the game, which ended in an all-too-familiar result.

Fjordhus Reivers: S. Young, B. Montgomery, S. Girvan, C. Stockdale, D. Johnston, B. Culham, G. Lofthouse, J. Fletcher, J. Bure, C. Darling, G. Roberts, P. Gibson, C. D. Stockdale.
