Gala Hotspur 3
Hawick United 6
BAL DIVISION B
LEAGUE leaders Hawick United kept their position with a confident display at Gala.
United took the lead through a David Strathdee penalty after Kevin Strathdee had been brought down in the box.
Ross Scott then put the visitors further ahead with a lobbed shot after having broken through the Hotspur defence.
The homesters reduced the leeway when Luke Gierus grabbed a goal but, just before half time, Kevin Strathdee restored United’s two goal lead.
United kept their foot on the pedal after the restart and Scott got on the score sheet again in finding the net with a diving header.
An own goal by visiting keeper Dean Fry closed the gap yet again but United took this in their stride and substitute Daniel Bouglas blasted home a shot at the opposite end on meeting a Kevin Strathdee cross.
Gala came bouncing back and were awarded a penalty when a player was pulled down by Fry who was red carded and Michael Blackwood scored with the spot kick.
United had the last say though when livewire Scott rattled away a sixth to complete his hat trick.
