LAST week saw the qualifiers of the Borders Pool League Triples, and with only four teams qualifying for the finals there was no hiding place.

At the Bridge, holders Scott Bowers, Scott Simpson and Craig Reid (Reivers) looked down and out and rode their luck, with Bowers dragging them back from the jaws of defeat to edge out an unlucky High Level trio of Jason Lyall, Craig and Gavin Cottrell.

The other Reivers team of Stan Thomson, Colin Miller and Stuart Brown cruised through at their venue, while Dryburgh’s potters Callum Todd, Kev Swinton and Barry Wood won a tricky qualifier at Nikis, leaving High Level’s other trio of Jimmy Callaghan, Terry Storrie and Patrick Wallace to complete the final line-up to be played in the spring at Reivers.

In the inaugural Micky Robertson Memorial Trophy played at the Fleece, Selkirk, over three Sundays, with all the First Division teams competing, High Level and Reivers A both won 10-2 over Reivers B and Waverley A respectively and meet in the semi-finals in two weeks’ time.

This coming week sees the Fleece v Dryburgh and Ship A v Niki’s A battle it out for the other semi-final spots. The final will be held on Sunday, November 16.
