ABBOTSFORD

THE Border Computing Ltd Indoor League is now underway, and week one produced wins for the triples skipped by Colin Hancock, John Manczak and Ian Macdonald.

Tommy Mann Jnr had a close win against Brian Anderson in the singles, while Gordon Bowers and Scott Thomson squeezed through against Colin and Ecky Hancock.

Week two saw wins in the singles for John Purves against John Manczak and Ian Macdonald against Jimmy Grieve. Purves’ pair also won, as did Macdonald’s, while Hancock’s triple had a convincing win over Manczak’s team.

Two friendly games have been played, against a Tom Thorburn select and Gala Cricket Club, with the home team winning on both occasions.

There is a race night at the club on Saturday, November 10, starting at 7pm.

All members and friends are welcome, and horses are on sale at the bar.

TWEEDBANK

THE seniors were in action last Wednesday away at West Lothian, but remain second bottom of the league after losing 82-52.

However, the rink of Angus Tait, Jimmy Redpath, Hugh Clifton and Clark Chalmers had a good win. The gents had no game on Saturday, and next face Abbeyview on Saturday, November 10.

The ladies travelled to Bainfield and unfortunately were only able to raise three rinks instead of four.

As a result they started the match already eight shots adrift, but even with this handicap they ran their Edinburgh opponents close, losing 68-53.

They also had one rink finishing with a win, this being Jean Gammie, Jean Hinchliffe, Matty Smith and Jackie Ormiston.

The week did finish with good news for the seniors in the Fours Playdowns at West Lothian. With a bye into the first round, Danny McLean, Tom Thorburn, Clark Chalmers and Rob Fulton played against a rink from Abbeyview and won 20-18.

They will now meet a four from Falkirk at the same venue on Sunday, November 18.
