RBS EAST DIVISION TWO

AN entertaining game at Volunteer Park saw 13 tries – with Linden eventually running out easy winners.

However, at half-time, Forrester led 12-10. Linden’s lighter pack struggled against a much heavier pack who, fortunately for the hosts, struggled in the later stages.

Stuart Renwick skipped over for the opening try before Forrester replied with a converted touchdown. Then Greg Thomson latched on to a Graeme Colville chip-kick to run in for the hosts.

With their backs to the wall, the Linden forwards were shunted over the line for a push-over try to end the first-half scoring.

Some poor tackling by the Linden saw Forrester score a converted try after the restart, but Barry Sutherland reduced the difference with a penalty.

Then came a real surprise as Linden’s lighter pack shunted Forrester back in a scrum on their own line for Colville to pick up and drive over for a try. Sutherland converted.

Forrester replied with another try but with Linden back on the attack, and their confidence growing, Sean Goodfellow touched down for Sutherland to convert. And almost from the kick-off, Greg Bouglas collected Sutherland’s up and under to score, his cohort converting.

Bouglas and Goodfellow scored again before the visitors got in another converted try.

Linden had the last say when Terry Skeet burst through several tackles to send Goodfellow in for his third, which Sutherland duly converted.
