Aberdeen 18
Gala 5
PREMIER A
GALA just didn’t turn up at Rubislaw – a place they find very difficult to get a result historically – with Craig Robertson’s try all they had to show for their efforts.
Aberdeen were hungrier, faster, and generally sharper in all areas, while the visitors played nowhere near their best and, frankly, got what they deserved.
The home side ran the show, but should have been more than a lone penalty from Rob Aloe ahead going into the interval.
Instead, they conceded a try right on the whistle when winger Erlend Oag missed a tackle, and Craig Robertson strolled in for a simple touchdown.
Grammar made amends in the second half with a try from Aloe, which he converted before adding another penalty.
The best was, however, saved for last when centre Alex Dunbar superbly set up Callum Anderson for the clincher that sent the Borderers home without the consolation of a losing bonus point.
On this form, Grammar will surprise any team in the top flight, while Gala have much to do if they are to talk of titles.
