Tennis may have a serious side, particularly if you’re John McEnroe, but not for 20 tiny tennis players who took part in the Borders Sport and Leisure Trust’s mini tennis programme in Galashiels.
Children aged from two to five attended the Queen’s Centre over four weeks for activities which focused on physical development, in particular agility, balance and coordination, but encouraged youngsters to have fun through playing tennis at the same time.
The programme was delivered by Ettrick & Lauderdale Junior Coach of the Year, Katie Addison, from Earlston.
The level two qualified coach was assisted by Andy Stavert, Michael Fairburn and Andrew Robinson, who have all gone through the Active Schools Leaders Programme, rolled out to senior pupils at Galashiels Academy.
The next course will run on February 11, 18 and 25, 2012, at the Queen’s Centre from 1.15pm to 2.15pm.
