NOT content with conquering the local running circuit, Kelso athlete Josh Abbott has recently had his first taste of national success.
Running for Kelso Athletics Club, where he trains with Keith Lyall, the 11-year-old Edenside Primary School pupil won the recent junior 2.62km race at the Kilomathon Scotland event, which started and finished at Murrayfield Stadium, in a time of nine minutes and 51 seconds.
Josh also lifted the Primary Boy title at the 2 Bridges race in Kelso in a new course record time of 13.52 the previous week.
Josh was one of the rising stars of the 2011/12 Borders Winter Cross-country Series and looks set to shine once more as the new season approaches.
