Gala Wanderers continued their unbeaten run this season with a thumping victory at Netherdale on Saturday, the under-18s running in nine tries to underscore their commitment to open rugby.
“Wanderers played really well in what was an excellent game,” said Wanderers’ president Willie Hunter, whose club faces Kelso Quins this weekend.
“And it’s great for the boys to keep their undefeated record this season.
“But we have a big test coming up a week on Saturday when we face Hawick Wanderers.”
Flanker Liam Scott and lock Blair Reavley bagged two tries apiece, the other touchdowns coming from prop Gary Robertson, stand-off Ruiari Howarth, wing Ryan Shaw, full back Craig Hancock and replacement scrum half Lewis Armstrong. The remainder of Gala’s points came from the boot of goal kicker Keith Young (three conversions and two penalty goals).
