THERE were laughs and banter aplenty at the Annual New Years Day Cricket match between St. Boswells Cricket Club and The Buccleuch Arms Hotel All Stars.
Pre-match pitch inspection passed as usual, as this game is played in any weather, and St Boswells, captained by Craig McNeill, batted first for a total of 43, including 10 extras. Two wickets fell in the opening five minutes.
Batting second, the All Stars, led by skipper Grant Todd, battled hard before falling just short with a total of 40, including 11 extras.
The event was well attended by families and villagers who all enjoyed the barbecue and raffle too.
Some brave spectators even arrived in fancy dress, which included Ali G, Batman and Robin.
A total of £120 was raised from player entry fees and will be donated to the St Boswells Village Hall heating fund.
