Tweedbank Indoor Bowling Club returned to Scottish league action, starting with the seniors, who entertained East Lothian.

The day started well for the Borderers and with the first five ends completed the Tweedbank seniors were in front 29-14.

The tables soon turned, though, East Lothian building up a lead of their own which Tweedbank failed to claw back and the visitors won 82-58.

On Saturday, the men were in action, travelling to Bainfield hoping to consolidate their second place position.

It started badly for Tweedbank with Bainfield going well ahead on two of the four rinks.

This pattern continued throughout, with two rinks ending well beaten, the other two emerging with some credit.

The ladies were at home, also to Bainfield, and this turned out to be a perfect way for them to start 2012. After falling slightly behind in the early stages, the third quarter of the match saw a change in fortune for the Tweedbank team with the ladies gaining the lead by six shots before forging ahead to win by 84-67.

Although the league campaign is finished, this was just the result they needed with the new cup competition to come.

This Saturday, the ladies will travel to Bainfield to meet a ladies team from Headwell in the preliminary round. On the same day the men will have their last league match of the season at home against East Fife, who must win to have any chance of avoiding relegation. For the Borderers, it is a last preparation for the Scottish Cup campaign which starts on Saturday, January 21, with a local derby against Teviotdale.
