THE organisers of Yarrow and Ettrick Show are hoping the good weather holds for the event near Selkirk on Saturday.

The Yarrow and Ettrick Pastoral Society’s showyard committee gave the event the thumbs-up after a field inspection at its venue, Philiphaugh Old Mill Farm, last Wednesday.

Show secretary Anne Turnbull said: “The forecast for the week is good and we have all got our fingers and toes crossed.

“Entries are fantastic – there are big sheep entries and a huge horse entry, I think probably because of the cancellations of other shows this summer everybody is keen to get out.”

On show will be Blackface, South and North Country Cheviots, park and prime lambs and Greyface sheep.

The horse section features mountain and moorland, working hunter, in-hand and ridden hunters and colour horses classes plus games and show jumping.

Melrose Pipe and Selkirk Silver bands will form some of the afternoon ring entertainment where the pet and dog show judging will also take place along with children’s races.
