A TEENAGE girl broke her tibia and fibula during a PE lesson at Galashiels Academy last Tuesday.
The pupil was attended to by a first-aider at the school, but the double break was not immediately apparent.
The student’s mother was called and took her daughter to hospital by car.
A Scottish Borders Council spokesman said that the girl’s parents had since met with school staff to discuss the situation and the way it was handled. He also confirmed that senior education officials at the local authority had been briefed and that all health and safety procedures had been followed correctly.
