BORDER CUP
TWEEDDALE eased into the next round of the Border cup with a convincing win 5-0 victory over Newtown.
Grant Wilson netted Tweeddale’s first with a looping header over the Newtown keeper. Good defending and poor finishing saw Tweeddale with slim one-goal advantage at half-time.
Chris Cassidy added number two when he turned in a Rhys Evans cross. Nick Rogers got the third – a strong run and shot that went in off the post.
Chris Cassidy got his second and Tweeddale’s fourth from a Simon Warren corner. Jamie Williamson grabbed Tweeddale’s last goal with a fine shot from the edge of the box.
Overall, a good performance from Tweeddale and the first time the rules allowed all five substitutes to get a game.
