David Johnson from Border Sport and Leisure Trust will be officially start the challenge at at the Tweedbank sports complex before 15 participants depart by bus to Ben Nevis to begin their task.  After completing Ben Nevis it is off to the Lake District to climb Scaffell Pike, and finally to Wales to complete the challenge with a climb of Snowdon.

David has trained the Barmy Army for previous challenges including the London Marathon twice, the Loch Ness Marathon and the New York Marathon, which were all completed in the army’s trademark kilts.

Steve Mellor, the army’s chairman, commented: “Throughout this campaign we have recruited members of the public to join the Borders Barmy Army and help us raise vital funds for such a worthy charity.  As we are now an official fundraising committee we can guarantee that every penny we raise stays in the Scottish Borders to help local people.”
