AT St Boswells Mart on Monday, John Swan Ltd sold a total of 93 clean cattle, 47 OTM cattle, 953 spring lambs and 340 ewes.
Bullocks (38) averaged 212.4p per kg (+4.8 p on the week), heifers (51) averaged 202.1p per kg (-3.8p on the week), four young bulls averaged 201p per kg (n/c on the week) and 47 beef type OTM cattle averaged 156p per kg (+1.6p on the week).
The 953 spring lambs averaged 207.6p per kg (+5p on the week) including 530 38-41kgs averaging 210.5p and 340 ewes averaged £88.15, (+£6.09 on the week).
Butchers handy weight cattle were in short demand and sold at premium prices.

AT their weekly Primestock Sale held at Wooler last Wednesday, John Swan Ltd had forward and sold 326 lambs, 18 hoggs and young sheep and 49 ewes.
Lambs forward in larger numbers, with all vendors delighted after a trade that left early week markets behind, more lambs could easily be sold.
