YOUNG local athletes have been gearing up for the start of the Borders circuit with an outing to Blackford Highland Games.
Selkirk sprinter Kerr Gerrard won the youths’ 200m title.
The 15-year-old was backmarker, giving the rest of the field 15m of a start. His winning time was 23.54 seconds.
Success also came the way of Jed-Forest Athletics youngsters who celebrated a one, two, three in the 90m youths’ sprint when Eoin Lowther, Jasmine Tomlinson and Holly McKay took the respective places.
In the seniors, Cameron Grieve was second in both the 90m and 200m, while Andrew Thompson took third place in the 800m and fourth in the 1,600m.
