Stainton II beat Langholm by 34 runs
EDEN VALLEY LEAGUE DIVISION THREE
LANGHOLM travelled to face table-toppers Stainton last Sunday with a young team.
The hosts batted first and finished the 40 overs on 192 for nine wickets, with Langholm ending the overs on 158.
Stainton were in trouble in the early stages on 27 for two and struggled to 51 for five.
Lack of depth in the Langholm bowling attack proved costly, however, and Stainton put on 88 for the last two wickets with Rinder hitting an impressive 71 in 60 balls, ably supported by Mulholland (15).
Pick of the Langholm bowlers was skipper Duncan Elliott with three for 31, and Andrew Bell had three for 43.
Langholm made a bad start and lost Bell for a duck, then Euan Wilson for four, with only eight scored.
Chris Stewart (18) and Gregor Park settled things and added 53 before both fell in quick succession, with Park reaching 34. Gregor Masterton (8) and Elliott carried the score to 80 before the former was out. Then Elliott (30) and Steven Johnstone (15) kept things ticking over. The young Langholm tailenders played their part and, although short of the home total, secured a point for not being all out.
In the home bowling, Mulholland had four for 34 and Silburn three for 32.
