SUNDAY belonged to Donald Livingston as he won the Braidwood ‘Trophy with no Name’, his second victory from the first two qualifying Summer Series events, and finished the day with the highest aggregate score, securing the Top Gun title.

Livingston (Edinburgh) only missed two clays on stand eight, considered the most difficult targets of the day, to come in first on 38 ex-40, two clays clear of Davie Scott (Haddington).

Scott and Jake Melrose (Walkerburn) were the only two guns to clean stand eight all day – no mean feat.

Neil Cattanach (Innerleithen) made the best of the, by then, inclement weather to win the second layout with 37 .

Livingston shared the runner-up slot one behind with Nigel Rock (Kelso) and Jim McPhillips (Bathgate). Junior gun Ryan Stewart (Melrose) shot his best-ever round to finish with the third-highest score of 35.

The man on fire, Livingston, shrugged off the wet to conclude the week’s shooting on 74 ex-80. Cattanach, Rock and John Ross (Whitburn) all shot a total of 67, with McPhillips and Scott on 65.

Stewart lay just one behind on 64, alongside Colin Scott (Hawick) and Ali Cumming (Galashiels).

The next shoot is on Sunday, May 6, when the ground hosts the Hull Cartridge Company 100 Registered South of Scotland Sporting Championship. This means that the club’s annual All Round event is postponed till May 13, with the next 80 sporting a week later on May 20.
