TWEEDBANK INDOOR

The only league match in the last week for Tweedbank involved the seniors, who made the short trip to Hawick to meet local rivals Teviotdale.

For Tweedbank it was a must-win match in order to have any chance of moving off the bottom of the league, but it was the hosts who began much better.

With five ends completed across the four rinks they had built up a lead of 17 shots, but in the next five ends Tweedbank fought back to reduce the deficit to six.

During the ends which followed the teams remained very close and neither could be certain of a win.

With one rink still playing their last end, Teviotdale led by a single shot.

With the very last bowl of the end, Tweedbank came close to stealing the two shots required, but a faint touch on a bowl was not enough to deflect it, enabling Teviotdale to score a single and gain a two-shot victory.

The one winning rink for Tweedbank was Billy Nisbet, Jimmy Redpath, Ian Jackson and Rob Fulton.

In the coming week there is a full programme of league matches. The men are away to Cumbernauld this Saturday and the ladies are at home to East Lothian.

At club level, members are reminded that the Christmas game and dinner is on Friday, December 16.

The raffle is on the same day and tickets are now available from the office, with donations of prizes for the draw most welcome.

The Zumba classes on Tuesday mornings are to be less strenuous and any members interested should attend at 9.30am.
