SCOTLAND Under 16 hockey girls won the Easter series against Wales in Wrexham with four Borders girls flying the saltire.
Kelso High School had the highest representation with three in the squad, Gina and Lucy Ramsay and Claire Hill. They were joined by Lorna Dagg from Earlston High.
Scotland won the series on goal differences. Their first match was a 1-1 draw with Watsons, Eilidh Thomson scoring Scotland’s goal.
On the Saturday the Scots youngsters fulfilled their potential in the second test match with a comfortable 3-0 win. The goals came from Kerry-Anne Hastings MES, Western’s Fiona Burnett and, on her 16th birthday, Kelso’s Claire Hill.
Hill also notched the opener in the final match to give a lead the Scots could not hold. The hosts played a more even contest to finish the game 3-1.
The girls are now training hard and hoping for selection to play in Germany in May.
