YOUNG curlers from Border Ice Rink recently completed a fantastic year on a high with some very impressive performances throughout Scotland.

Amy Bryce teamed up with three other girls to play in the invitational Greenacres U-15 challenge where eight teams from various clubs compete. Her team won the trophy with a convincing win over the Greenacres team in the final.

Amy then travelled to Dumfries for the U-21 Globe International tournament and reached the semi-final of the challenge trophy with a very young team.

Her brother, Cameron, went one step further when his team topped their group in style before defeating Denmark in the semi-final and narrowly losing a very tight final in an extra end.

A large contingent of Borders young curlers then headed to Perth for the U-17 slam tournament, the last of the curling season.

Neil Sutherland and his team, which included Callum Potts and Stewart Shaw, performed well in their section before losing narrowly in their final game.

The Bryces again fared well with Cameron’s team finishing top qualifiers but losing in the High Road semi-final. Amy’s team made the Low Road semi-final but lost to the eventual winners.

The new season starts at the end of September.

Thanks go to all coaches for their time at the Border Ice Rink and travelling to support at tournaments.
