BEAUTY therapy students in Galashiels raised £350 for a burns charity last week.

The NVQ level 3 beauty therapy students at Scottish Borders Campus held a pampering “Blooming Beautiful” evening in aid of The Katie Piper Foundation when more than 50 people gave donations for treatments.

Co-ordinators students Gaby Ferguson and Louise Murray said: “We’re so pleased to have raised so much for the Katie Piper Foundation by organising this event for our Level 3 Beauty Therapy Promotional Activities Unit.

“We treated over 50 people, including giving back, neck, and shoulder massages, file and polish manicures and nail art.”

There was also a microdermabrasion demo, a table top sale and Dermalogica product display.

The foundation’s fundraising head Carol Borwick said: “We’re so grateful. The money raised will help us make a positive difference to burns survivors through life-changing treatments and workshops. ”

The foundation was set up in 2010 by TV presenter Katie Piper whose face was severely disfigured by acid in 2008. Her charity hopes to make it easier for people to live with burns and scars through rehabilitation, help with scar management and non-surgical treatments.
