THE BSLT Indoor 6s passed round four with Peebles County CC’s 1st VI and Murrayfield Daffs seeking to cement second spot and a favourable semi-final birth.
However, it was the Edinburgh club that proved their mettle against the locals 1st and 2nd VIs with two stunning five-wicket wins, marshalled in both instances by C. Donaldson’s not-out scores of 31 and 30.
In the first game Phil Hawkins’ cannily-flighted off-spin undid two of the Peebles 1st VI batters with only Taylor (29) and Cameron (13) having any joy before the team was dismissed for 61. Niall Burns’ first over belied what was to come as Donaldson and Hawkins made light work of the total inside seven overs.
Peebles 2nds showed a little more steely resistance in setting up a stiffer target of 87, but Murrayfield cruised past the home team’s total to seal their second win of the day and second spot in the table.
Unfortunately, Biggar CC failed to show and has now withdrawn from the remainder of the league programme.
