Lothian and Borders Police have identified the man who died following a road collision on the B6357 in the Scottish Borders.
He is Walter Brian Davidson from Copshaw Place, Newcastleton.
The 39-year-old man died as a result of the injuries he sustained when he was involved in a collision with a silver Landrover Freelander on South Hermitage Street, Newcastleton yesterday (Monday). Police believe the man had earlier been seen walking in Newcastleton.
The driver who reported the incident to police stopped at the scene and is assisting with inquiries. The road was closed for around six hours while investigations were carried out at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “Officers are still trying to piece together what happened to result in this collision and we are keen to hear from motorists or pedestrians who were in the area at around 10pm on Monday. Anyone with any other information that can aid this enquiry is also asked to come forward.”
